The beat business, explained honestly.

Buuwankler is a Berlin-based knowledge platform for music producers and beatmakers. We turn the confusing, hype-filled world of selling beats online into clear, fact-based guidance you can actually act on — from platform fees and licensing to Instagram strategy and the real numbers behind producer income.

Who we are

Buuwankler exists for one reason: most producers make incredible music and almost no money, and the gap between the two is rarely talent — it's information. The internet is full of highlight reels of producers posting their best month ever, and almost none of the practical, grounded advice that would help everyone else get there. We set out to fill that gap.

We are a small team of producers, writers, and music-business obsessives based in Berlin's Pankow district. We spend our time studying how beats actually sell in 2026 — how the marketplaces really price and pay, what social platforms reward, how licensing works, and what separates the producers earning a living from the ones stuck at zero. Then we write it all down in plain language, with the real numbers attached.

We don't sell dreams, courses that promise overnight riches, or shortcuts that don't exist. We publish honest, detailed, up-to-date guidance — the kind of thing we wish someone had handed us when we started.

Our mission

Our mission is simple to state and hard to do: help producers turn their craft into a real, sustainable income by giving them the truth about how this business works. That means being honest about the parts nobody likes to say out loud — that the median producer earns under 500 dollars a month, that marketplaces won't market you, that a cheap lease is an audition and not a career, and that the people earning several thousand dollars a month got there through distribution and business systems, not just better drums.

It also means being genuinely useful. Every guide we publish is built to answer a real question a producer is actually asking: Which platform should I sell on? How do I price a custom beat? Why aren't my Reels converting? What do I need to deliver to charge more? We would rather publish one thorough, correct, honest answer than ten shallow ones. If a piece of advice wouldn't help us make a better decision about our own beats, it doesn't go on the site.

What we cover

Our guides span the full journey of a producer building a business — the platforms, the marketing, the money, and the craft standards that hold it all together.

Selling and platforms. Deep, current breakdowns of BeatStars, Airbit, and self-hosting — real commissions, plan costs, traffic, payouts, and which platform fits your business and audience.

Instagram and social media. How producers actually grow and sell today: why Reels beat feed posts, the three-to-five-videos-a-week rhythm, Stories that convert, and a clear "DM for custom" strategy.

Licensing and pricing. Type beats versus custom, leases versus exclusives, and why individual orders bring far more than leases — with the pricing data to back it up.

Producer income. The honest distribution of what producers earn — from the low median to the small top tier making thousands a month — and the specific things that move you up it.

Quality and delivery. The current standards for mixing, mastering, and stem delivery — why properly finished beats sell better and unlock your highest-priced tiers.

Clients and workflow. How to write a custom beat brief that gets a great result, and how to turn one-time buyers into long-term clients who come back and refer others.

How we work

Real numbers over hype. We cite actual platform fees, pricing surveys, and reported income ranges — and we tell you when figures change over time and should be re-checked. No invented statistics, no "everyone's getting rich" fantasies.

Honesty, even when it's uncomfortable. If most producers earn very little, we say so — because you can't fix a problem you're not allowed to name. Clear-eyed advice beats flattering advice every time.

Actionable, not abstract. Every guide is built to be used. Concrete steps, specific price ranges, exact posting cadences, and templates you can copy — the kind of detail you can apply the same day.

Current and maintained. The beat business changes fast — commissions get cut, algorithms shift, standards rise. We keep our guidance anchored to how things actually work now, not how they worked five years ago.

Producer-first, always. We write for the person in the studio at 2am, not for platforms or advertisers. Our loyalty is to helping you build a business you own and control.

Craft and business together. Great beats without a business go nowhere; business without great beats has nothing to sell. We treat both as essential and cover them as one connected system.

Who it's for

Whether you uploaded your first beat last week or you've been grinding for years and want to finally turn it into real income, Buuwankler is built for you. Our readers include bedroom and beginner producers making their first sales and trying to understand how the whole business fits together; part-time producers who want to break out of the low-earning range with better marketing and higher-value offers; serious beatmakers scaling toward a full-time living through custom work, exclusives, and multiple revenue streams; and artists and rappers who want to understand licensing, commission custom beats the right way, and work better with producers.

Why producers trust our guidance

There is no shortage of beat-selling content online. What's rare is content that's thorough, current, honest about the hard parts, and grounded in real data instead of recycled myths. That's the standard we hold ourselves to on every page.

We're producers writing for producers, based in one of Europe's great music cities, with a global outlook and a bias toward the practical. We won't tell you it's easy. We'll tell you exactly how it works — and give you a real path through it. If our guidance helps you make one better decision about your beats, your pricing, or your promotion, we've done our job.
